Communities in Schools

Communities In Schools of South Central Texas (CIS) is a local non-profit that provides on-campus Site Coordinators to twenty-six schools from elementary to high school in four school districts in Comal and Guadalupe counties. The CIS  Site Coordinators connect students and their families to critical community resources. They also provide social, academic and counseling services to at-risk students so that they can succeed in school and make positive life choices.

This year CIS will provide services to 18,000 students and nearly 2,800 students will receive intensive case management services which include counseling and life skills, character-building, academic assistance, and health and human services. CIS believes that every child needs and deserves a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to learn and grow, a healthy start and a healthy future, a marketable skill to use upon graduation, and a chance to give back to the community. Last year of the 2,160 students that received intensive services, 99.74% stayed in school, 95% were promoted to the next grade and 98.98% of CIS seniors received a high school diploma.
