The Braunfels Foundation Award Good Citizenship Award 2018

Building on a generous donation from Harry and Christine Dierks, the Foundation Trust is presenting annual Citizenship Awards to one boy and one girl from the eighth grades in each middle school in New Braunfels. These awards are based on good citizenship, ethical conduct, school attendance, grades, and participation in extracurricular activities or employment. While grades are considered, it is not required that a candidate for the award have high scholastic marks.

Trustees Helgard Suhr-Hollis and Judge Charles Stephens presented the Braunfels Foundation Award to two eighth students from Canyon Middle School, Hudson Baese and Kelly Johnson.

Trustees Helgard Suhr-Hollis and Roxolin Krueger presented the Braunfels Foundation Award at New Braunfels Middle School to Brandon Ward and Sophia Murra.

Trustee Helgard Suhr-Hollis and Teresa Johnson presented the Braunfels Foundation Award at Church Hill Middle School to Zachary Tyler Elson and Hannah Aubrey Harrison.

Trustee Helgard Suhr-Hollis and Carolyn Bateman presented the Braunfels Foundation Award at Oak Run Middle School to Cole Pollard and Hannah Hunter.

First Step Scholarship Career Tech Award

Local area high school students received First Step Career Vocational/ Technical Scholarships from the Braunfels Foundation Trust & The Baron and Baroness’ of the Trust at the McKenna Ballroom on April 26th.  The Projects Committee worked with both local school districts and their high schools to solicit applications from graduating high school seniors interested in post-secondary education for vocational or technical careers and or the testing required to take the next step in the process of work after high school.

This year, 2018, the Braunfels Foundation Trust(BFT) awarded 72 graduating seniors from our area the BFT First Step Scholarship. The board allocated up to $109,500 toward these scholarships.

The BFT’s main focus is on scholarships for high school seniors seeking vocational and technical training. The BFT scholarship gives students a “first step” in successfully attaining their goal.

On May 5, the Braunfels Foundation Trust will be participating in the Big Give S.A.  This is a 24 hour day of giving with many local nonprofits represented. The Big Give S.A. is part of the national day of giving called Give Local America. You may know of other organizations in our community participating. 
On May 5, anyone can make an online gift to a participating organization. Minimum donation is $10. There is not a maximum donation.

Carter Casteel, Carl Feltner and Carol(Bucky) Warwick Smith

New Braunfels, Texas, August 18, 2015:   The Braunfels Foundation Trust announced, during the Baron and Baroness quarterly social held at McAdoo’s Seafood,  the selection of Carter Casteel, Carl Feltner and Carole “Bucky” Smith as “Living Legends of New Braunfels.”  The “Living Legend” program honors individuals from New Braunfels whose extraordinary service, involvement, and contributions have made New Braunfels this wonderful and most unique place in which to live.

Casteel, Feltner and Smith are the 11th class of Living Legends, and they join a celebrated group of community leaders.  They will be honored at a recognition reception on October 6, 2015, at the New Braunfels Convention and Center Civic.  Tickets for the event will go on sale on August 18.

The Braunfels Foundation Trust was founded after the community of Braunfels, Germany, presented a monetary gift of $1,500 of support following the devastating flood of 1972.

Proceeds from the 11th annual event will benefit programs to support vocational and technical training and continued education in Comal and Guadalupe County through scholarship programs for graduating high school seniors.  The Braunfels Foundation Trust also provides facilities for Communities in Schools of South Central Texas.

Carroll Udo Hoffmann Recognized

The Braunfels Foundation Trust was the recipient of a $7,500 donation in honor of Carroll Udo Hoffmann.  The donation was given by the Downtown Rotary Club in recognition of Carroll’s 50 years of perfect attendance! The Trust sincerely appreciates this generous donation in his name. This was a unique idea from the Downtown Rotary Club.  What a wonderful and well deserved recognition of Carroll!
